The Opportunity
An established digital training provider is expanding its data and AI provision and is looking to appoint a Data Mentor to coach and support apprentices throughout their programme journey.The curriculum function is covered internally, so the immediate focus of this role is high-quality apprentice mentoring, coaching, and progression support. Over time, there is scope to contribute to delivery and curriculum development as the provision continues to scale.This is a strong opportunity for someone passionate about developing emerging data talent and helping apprentices apply modern data and AI skills in real-world contexts.
Key Responsibilities
Coach and mentor apprentices across data and AI programmes
Deliver regular progress reviews, coaching sessions, and pastoral support
Support apprentices to successfully progress through their apprenticeship journey
Help apprentices build confidence in applying data and AI concepts practically
Monitor learner engagement, progress, and readiness for gateway / EPA
Provide technical guidance across core data and AI topics
Work closely with internal teams and employers to ensure a high-quality apprentice experience
Contribute to curriculum enhancement and future delivery where required
Maintain accurate learner records in line with ESFA and quality requirements
What We’re Looking For
Strong hands-on experience in data analytics, data science, or a related field
Working knowledge of AI concepts and tools (e.g. machine learning fundamentals, prompt engineering, or applied AI use cases)
Experience coaching, mentoring, or teaching apprentices or adult learners
Good knowledge of tools such as Excel, SQL, Python, Power BI or similar
Understanding of the UK apprenticeship landscape and funding rules (desirable)
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Passion for apprentice success and high-quality outcomes
Organised, proactive, and comfortable working in a remote environment

SQL Developer (Business Intelligence)

ROLE PURPOSE
Design, develop, and maintain SQL queries supporting Business Intelligence reporting. Collaborate closely with the Data Warehouse team and cross-functional stakeholders to build scalable solutions that support both direct reporting and self-serve analytics. Proactively gather, interpret, and analyse business requirements to enhance data visibility and reporting effectiveness. Support the migration of the existing SQL Server estate to Databricks, contributing to the modernisation of the data platform.
MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Create, amend and support SQL Server stored procedures, views, function and ad hoc queries
Support and assist in the creation of Tableau reports
Create, amend and support SSRS reports
Documentation of reports and BI solutions and processes
Test and code review work developed by colleagues as part of a collaborative team
Migrate existing queries and reportsfrom existing estate to Databricks
EXPERIENCE
Experience with Databricks
Proven experience with SQL Server and T-SQL
Experience with SSRS
