IT SUPPORT TECHNICIAN - HYBRID - SALFORD - £38K+ BONUS
I'm working with a business that's focused on optimising their IT operations and leveraging technology to drive efficiency across their organisation. They've built a strong operational foundation and are now looking to strengthen their technical support function.
The Role
They're looking for a IT Support Technician with a passion for automation to join their IT team. You'll be the technical expert providing first and second-line support while developing workflow automations that make everyone's life easier. What you'll be doing:
- Acting as first point of contact for IT support requests via phone, email, and ticketing system
 - Providing technical support for hardware, software, operating systems, and network issues
 - Installing, configuring, and maintaining end-user devices including desktops, laptops, printers, and mobile devices
 - Supporting and administering Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Exchange, and VPN solutions
 - Diagnosing and resolving issues related to Windows
 - Managing user accounts, permissions, and access controls in line with security policies
 - Configuring, monitoring, and troubleshooting workflow automation processes using tools such as Celigo, Power Automate, Zapier, or equivalent
 - Collaborating with business teams to identify opportunities for automation, reduce manual tasks, and support integrations between systems (e.g., ERP, ecommerce, CRM)
 - Escalating incidents to 2nd/3rd line support teams or external vendors when necessary
 - Maintaining accurate records of incidents, resolutions, and knowledge base documentation
 - Assisting with IT projects, upgrades, and rollouts as required
 - Ensuring adherence to IT policies, processes, and compliance requirements
 - Participating in out-of-hours support rota where required
 
What you'll need:
- Proven experience in a technical IT Service Desk or Helpdesk role
 - Strong knowledge of Microsoft technologies (Windows 10/11, Microsoft 365, Active Directory)
 - Familiarity with networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN)
 - Hands-on experience with hardware troubleshooting and support
 - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
 - Excellent customer service and communication skills
 - Ability to prioritise and manage tasks in a busy support environment
 - Customer-focused and service-driven
 - Proactive in identifying opportunities for automation and efficiency
 - Logical thinker with excellent attention to detail
 - Strong collaboration skills and ability to communicate across technical and non-technical teams
 - Flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced environment
 
Nice to haves:
- Experience with ITSM/ticketing systems (ServiceNow, Jira Service Management, Freshservice, etc.)
 - Experience working with workflow automation and integration platforms (Celigo, Power Automate, Zapier, etc.)
 - Knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud)
 - Exposure to ERP, ecommerce, or CRM integrations
 - Scripting knowledge (PowerShell, Python, or similar) to extend automation capabilities
 - ITIL Foundation certification or understanding of ITIL processes
