Senior / Lead Data Engineer – eDV Cleared | National Security | Gloucester or Hybrid
If you've built or maintained data systems in classified environments, you’ll understand the complexity and responsibility that comes with enabling trusted data flows in support of national security.
You’ll be joining a long-standing engineering partner with deep roots in the UK intelligence community. Backed by secure frameworks and mission-focused delivery, you’ll help shape how data is moved, enriched, and made operationally useful in some of the UK’s most sensitive programmes.
You’ll also be part of an organisation that blends the resources and backing of a larger group with the agility, culture, and autonomy of an SME.
This role suits cleared data engineers, integration leads, platform engineers, and similar profiles with experience delivering inside secure or sensitive environments.
You will:

Design and maintain scalable, secure data pipelines

Develop ingestion and orchestration flows using tools like NiFi and Kafka
-
Build and manage SQL/NoSQL datastores (e.g. PostgreSQL, MongoDB)

Integrate and model data from multiple secure sources

Ensure data consistency, quality, and lineage
-
Lead engineers and contribute to best practice across delivery teams

Monitor, troubleshoot, and improve systems supporting mission-critical data
You’ll bring experience with:

Apache NiFi and Kafka
-
SQL and NoSQL databases
-
Data modelling, schema design, and transformation
-
Secure Java services (Spring Boot)
-
Data governance, integration, and enrichment in classified systems
-
Collaborating with IA, cyber, and delivery stakeholders
Location and Working Pattern

Primarily based on-site in Gloucester or at nearby customer locations

Hybrid working supported where mission context allows
Security Clearance Requirements
This role requires active enhanced Developed Vetting (eDV) or willingness to undergo the process.

Have lived in the UK continuously for the last 10 years
